About Ruth
Canadian oboist Ruth Denton approaches music through a historical lens, curiosity, and a deep fascination with stories and how something came to be. After studying performance practice with John Abberger and Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, she performed regularly in the Canadian early music community. Her passion for creativity in community led to the founding of Cor Unum Ensemble, which was dedicated to bringing together young artists to perform collaborative historically informed performances. Each summer she joins the team-oriented administrative staff at the Amherst Early Music Festival. Now based in the US, she is a doctoral student in oboe performance at the University of Northern Colorado.
